SET THE TONE

Neutrals & earth tones are known for their calming and grounding effects. By incorporating these colors into your gathering space and holiday tablescape, you can create a sense of warmth & comfort that will make your guests feel right at home. These colors also provide a versatile backdrop that can easily be paired with different textures and accents to suit your personal style. Lighting is key to creating a cozy atmosphere. Opt for an array of candles in varying heights and sizes to add a warm glow to your holiday tablescape. Mix & match pillar candles, tea lights, and taper candles in neutral hues for a soft, inviting ambiance. Layer lighting by adding table and floor lamps around the room, using bulbs in a warm color temperature while keeping the overhead lighting dim.

LAYER UP

Layering different textures, such as a knit runner or linen tablecloth, can add depth and visual interest to the table. Incorporate earthy elements like wooden chargers, rattan placemats, or ceramic dinnerware to bring a natural touch to your tablescape. These elements can help create a rustic and organic feel that complements the neutrals beautifully. Consider adding a touch of greenery throughout to enhance the earthy vibe. Round out your holiday tablescape with subtle metallic accents like brass candle holders or gold flatware. These accents can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the overall look. No holiday tablescape is complete without a spread of delicious snacks and treats. Serve up an assortment of cheeses, nuts, fruits, and chocolates on wooden platters and marble boards for a rustic yet elegant touch. Don't forget the mulled wine or hot cocoa to keep your guests warm and toasty!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Brittany joined the Alcott & Bentley team earlier this year after moving to Louisville from New England. She spent a few years working in corporate office furniture but really found her passion once she switched to residential interior design. Working with a small firm out of Boston, she learned not only her personal style but how to work within anyone's. She loves the challenge of ensuring the spaces she designs are something the client is comfortable with & feels at home in. These design schemes were a fun side project for Brittany to not only show what else Alcott & Bentley has to offer as far as products, but also an additional service we have available. She is taking both lighting & interior design clients, so don't hesitate to reach out if this is something you are interested in!
